CARMEN’S SOLDIER OF THE YEAR 2014

L/Cpl CHRISTOPHER VINCENT RLC...

This year we honour someone who is a junior NCO in the Ammunition Technical
Support Group. He passed his NCO course as top student and went on to score over 94% in an operator’s course, before deploying to Belize. There he conducted large-scale disposals, always the first to volunteer. In Afghanistan with the close support ammunition detachment, he assisted numerous demolitions, and then found himself facing a serious incident. In the largest unexploded ordnance clearance since World War II he marked dangerous ammunition scattered all over Camp Bastion airfield.  Tested to the limit, he was second to none, the best NCO in that role on Operation Herrick. .
