Today's Carmen

Ladies and Gentlemen are admitted to the Company, with due regard to transport connections,  wider fellowship and their likely contribution to the Company's aims and objectives.

Today’s Carmen fall into three groups:

Apprentices

Apprentices are gifted youngsters who serve between the ages of 14 and 21, learning the 'art and mystery of Carmen', thereby introducing future high fliers to the Company.


Freemen

Freemen arrive by three routes; through servitude as past Apprentices, by patrimony as children of Carmen, and through redemption, by entry 'fine’ after interview and approval.


Liverymen

Liverymen are those Freemen clothed with the Livery of the Company, having paid additional dues and been approved by the governing Court.
