Today’s Carmen fall into three groups:
Apprentices
Apprentices are gifted youngsters who serve between the ages of 14 and 21, learning the 'art and mystery of Carmen', thereby introducing future high fliers to the Company.
Freemen
Freemen arrive by three routes; through servitude as past Apprentices, by patrimony as children of Carmen, and through redemption, by entry 'fine’ after interview and approval.
Liverymen
Liverymen are those Freemen clothed with the Livery of the Company, having paid additional dues and been approved by the governing Court.
