In 1803, the Carmen offered to supply the Government with ‘420 Carts and 1,000 Horses’ and those close links with Britain's armed forces continue today.

In 1975, Articles of Association were signed with the Royal Corps of Transport – a link that continues with their successor, the Royal Logistic Corps.
During the first Gulf War Carmen enjoyed a unique distinction, with the Carmen crest appearing on 25 Freight Distribution Squadron RLC vehicles.
This valued affiliation is currently borne by 19 Tank Transporter Squadron RLC, 'The Carmen's Own'.
In both Iraq and Afghanistan, the Squadron deploys troops designated ‘The Carmen’s Troop’.

At sea...
In 1946, the Carmen presented arms to HMS Anson, and in 1996 adopted HMS Cardiff, since decommissioned.
In 2004, the Company forged links with Fleet Command Logistics and, within that, the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Service, the Royal Navy’s logistics and supply service, principally crewed by merchant seafarers.
Since 2005, RFAS Fort Victoria has flown the Carmen’s flag in port and during seagoing transfers, as 'The Carmen’s Ship'.

In 2015, the Company was assigned HMS Northumberland as its affiliated ship. HMS Northumberland is a Type 23 frigate of the Royal Navy. She is named after the Duke of Northumberland. She is the eighth RN ship to bear the name since the first 70 gun frigate in 1679, and the ninth in the class of Type 23 frigates.

In 2002, a Letter of Association was witnessed by the Lord Mayor at Mansion House between the Carmen and No 2 Group, Strike Command RAF.
Specifically associated with the Company are 24 Squadron, RAF Lyneham, a Hercules squadron, the Defence Movements School, Brize Norton and 2 Mechanical Transport Squadron at Wittering, which is designated 'The Carmen's Squadron'.
A J-Class Hercules aircraft in 24 Squadron carries the Carmen’s plaque and is designated ‘The Carmen’s Flight’.
